New Year, New Brand

In 2006, I came up with the bright idea to take what I learned from obtaining my Master’s and use it to help others get a presence on the web. I remember reaching out to my best friend and mom for what the name of my first company should be:

  • McDonough 39 Designs: an ode to my elementary school in New Orleans
  • The Web Boutique: a “girly” name that summed up what impressed on me most at the time: girly, EVERYTHING!

Girly won.

My early clients primarily consisted of sorority chapters. I designed websites using Dreamweaver and expanded on the knowledge gained from what I learned in the classroom by hunting the Internet for any and everything web design. If you saw the first site I built you’d laugh. Out loud.

As time went on, I moved on. Past Dreamweaver and into the world of WordPress, that had become the blog of choice for budding writers across the blogosphere. I loved WordPress. Its ease of management and different ways to trick out your site made me realize it was time for WordPress and I to move past the friendship stage and start discussing the white house and picket fence.

Suffice it to say, Worpdress and I go together. Like red beans and rice. Grits and the south. Hot sauce and your bag.

Fast forward years later to the addition of skills and consultants, and it was time to change the name of The Web Boutique to reflect providing more comprehensive marketing and fundraising services to clients.  Fortunately, the name wasn’t too far up the family tree to find…
